Looking for a puzzle that’s truly one of a kind? The forward-thinking design studio Nervous System has created a geode jigsaw that’s inspired by the dazzling formations of agate—a stone known for its colorful bands. To create this special puzzle, they produced a computer simulation that forms variations in overall shape and individual pieces. This approach ensures that each creation is unique; but despite this variety, every iteration of the puzzle includes the same attributes, including contorted pieces that exhibit “extreme intertwining” to make the jigsaw extra challenging to solve. After you complete the 180-piece birch plywood design, you won’t want to take it apart anytime soon.
